2022 Class Offerings
All classes will be held in the Aitken Music building. Singing classes will be in the Auditorium and dance classes will primarily be in the Old Gym.
TERM 1
Musical Theatre Dance
This class is designed for the beginning and advanced students interested in musical theatre dance. Two classes will be offered on Wednesday, for 60 minutes, and only in Term 1 from 4:00-6:00 pm. The classes will be split by the instructor following a short group dance audition the first meeting in 2022. There will be 10 classes with performances in the bi-annual “Standing Room Only” programme on 7 May.
This will allow students to grow at a higher rate and achieve more as they will be in a setting with peers who have similar levels of dance.
The class is offered to Years 5-13, which is a change from last year. Students from any school in Wellington region are welcome to attend the class.
Cost - $300 (payable upon registration)
TERM 2
Art Songs
This class is designed for the more advanced singing student who has an interest in foreign language, more traditional singing style, and looking to improve their performance practice. The class will be offered on Wednesday, for 90 minutes, and only in Term 2 from 4:00-5:30 pm. The class is limited to 10 participants, so that we can give each student concentrated energy as we develop the music, grow the language skills, and work on the repertoire.
The focus will be on:
There will be two instructors: singing teacher/diction coach and accompanist. Both instructors are highly qualified and will bring each student to a deeper understanding of the “Art Song” genre.
If your child is looking to perform in a “solo performance” for their NCEA music class, this is the perfect opportunity to learn 1-2 of the songs needed for that assessment. The class is offered to Years 9-13, students from any school.
Fee - $300 (payable upon registration)
If you have any enquiries regarding either of these classes, please feel free to email Mark Stamper ([email protected]).
