Applications for Arts Buttons and Bars will be available mid term 3.
ANNUAL QMC ARIA, CONCERTO AND SONATA COMPETITION
In September (date TBC) Queen Margaret College will be holding our fourth senior music performance competition. This will be open to all students in years 9-13 and will be divided into two categories, A: years 9-10 and B: years 11-13. Competitors will perform a short recital which should include at least one operatic aria (y11-13 singers) or one classical song (y9-10 singers) or at least one movement from a concerto or sonata (all instrumentalists). Competitors should be performing at a minimum of Grade 6 standard (category A) and Grade 7 standard (category B).
Prizes will be offered in both categories.

2024: Voces Luce will be competing in the World Choir Games, being held in Auckland in July. Watch this space for further details.
2023 BIG SING and VOCES LUCE NEWS:
Voces Luce were selected for the Big Sing Finale in Aucklan , where they gained a Silver award. Prior to this they had just completed a very successful trip to Singapore to compete in the Concentus choral competition. Voces Luce were selected as one of the top 5 choirs for the Gala concert and gained a Category II Gold Award.
2022 BIG SING NEWS:
Voces Luce made it to the Finale.!! Having competed in Regionals in June and once again taken home one of the Cups, They sang beautifully in Chrisrtchurch and gained a silver award. Congratulations VL!!
2021 News: On June 10 our three choirs, Voces Luce, Jubilate and A Choired Taste performed at the Wellington Regional Big Sing competition.
Voces Luce won the Cup for the best performance of a Choral Art Music for their rendition of Crossing the Bar.
Jubilate were recognised in the New Zealand Music category for their performance of Haere Mai Ra.
Voces Luce have been selected to perform at the Big Sing Cadenza festival in Whanganui on August 13-14

On 29-31 August, QMC Chorale competed in the Finale of The Big Sing and won Silver. It was our first appearance at the Finale in over 12 years, so the girls and staff were very excited. It was an amazing experience in Dunedin. We were one of 24 choirs chosen from over 250 ensembles in the country.
On 11-12 September, Quart my Attention competed at the Barbershop Finals in Christchurch as one of the top 16 quartets in the country.
Banditas and Honours Band played in the Kings Festival in Auckland 16-18 September, along with 400 other students from the Auckland region.
Orchestra, Honours Band, Banditas and Stringendos played at the WeBO Festival in Silverstream and gained Gold and Silver awards.
QMC entrants enjoyed huge success at the Sheilah Winn Shakespeare competition, winning a number of awards, with one group selected for the national final and Bella Barber being selected to travel to the Globe Theatre in 2020.
